New sea freight sheet (week 40)

CMA CGM group has decided to suspend the spot freight of all services operated under its brands (CMA CGM, CNC, Containerships, Mercosul, ANL, APL). This decision applies to the spot rate and takes effect immediately until February 1st of 2022. Maersk, the world's largest shipping company, and Hapag-Lloyd, the world's fifth largest shipping company, have also stated that they won't increase freight rates. We all hope that sea freight can be controlled effectively, and the global supply chain can gradually move towards a virtuous circle. But as Christmas approaches, the traditional peak season is coming again. Sea freight has gone through several rounds of increase, and remains high. At present, many factories in China are facing difficulties in delivering goods, and freight forwarders are afraid to accept orders due to lack of space and containers. Whether upstream raw material suppliers or downstream producers and traders, the whole chain has had a bittersweet year.
